You are cordially invited to join us at the Southeast Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SEDHCC) 2017 Scholarship Awards Reception to spotlight the excellence of Dallas area Hispanic students for their accomplishments and to celebrating the educators and parents that support them.
Proceeds from the Scholarship Awards Reception support the nonprofit Southeast Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and its Scholarship Fund program. This spectacular business casual evening is slated for Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Latino Cultural Center beginning at 5:00 pm.
This year’s Scholarship Awards Reception theme, “Learn, Live, and Lead in Pleasant Grove” will be a grand affair and the public is invited to join in the excitement! Guest will enjoy an open bar cocktail reception followed by a craft variety of culinary hors d’oeuvres. The event’s silent auction will consist of unique memorabilia and several surprises. Keynote speakers for the evening will be the Director of the City of Dallas Office of Welcoming Communities and Immigrant Affairs, Mary Elizabeth Cedillo-Pereira and Consul General of Mexico, Francisco de la Torre Galindo. Entertainment will be provided by the sensational Eastfield College Jazz Band and the talented Greiner Middle School Mariachi. Ten deserving students will be honored and awarded scholarships to continue with their education.

About Director of the City of Dallas Office of Welcoming Communities and Immigrant Affairs, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Cedillo-Pereira:
A Dallas native, Liz has more than 15 years of experience at the federal, state and local level on immigration related matters. Prior to joining the City of Dallas management team, Liz served as the Obama Administration’s Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where she focused on immigration policy and community engagement to foster relations in communities across the U.S. An attorney, advocate and policy advisor, Liz is dedicated to improving and strengthening our nation’s immigration system. Among numerous awards for commitment to service and excellence in the legal profession, Liz has been conferred with the Distinguished Alumni Award by SMU Dedman School of Law, the Ohtli Award from the Republic of Mexico and the Maura Award by the Dallas Women’s Foundation. Liz is proud former recipient of Hispanic Scholarship Fund recipient.
About Consul General of Mexico, Francisco de la Torre Galindo:
Consul de la Torre previously served as the Executive Director of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad at Mexico’s Ministry of foreign Affairs, since June 1st, 2013 and has been a member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1998. Consul de la Torre has served as Director of Legal Affairs at the Ministry’s Directorate General for the Foreign Service and also as Director for South America at the Under- Secretariat for Latin America and the Caribbean. His diplomatic experience includes having been in charge of the Political and Economic Affairs, Cooperation and Protection for Mexican citizens abroad at the Mexican Embassies in Brazil and Argentina.
